{How I Met My House - Part Deux - More Pictures}

*sorry, these pictures are so out of order, Blogger just wasn't cooperating!*

My Christmas tree. I went with brown, silver and celery green. I LOVED it.

My bedroom, and the only room that's painted in my house. It's Behr Aqua Breeze, from Home Depot. The quilt was a Christmas gift from my mom. It's very shabby chic.

My mantle from the antique store. I talked to the dealer and it came out of a mansion in Oklahoma's first capital, Guthrie.

Living room - fall 2009...

Got the curtains that my mom and I made, the giant key from Pottery Barn, $40 garage sale coffee table, and the most comfortable couch ever.
Dining room and kitchen. I chose a table that was pub height. I love having a tall table. The accent table to the right is actually a dresser that I scored from an antique store. My mom and I made the curtains in the kitchen and dining area too!

For some reason, my couch looks green here....it's actually chocolate brown.

I love this picture. The natural light is just gorgeous.

{How I Met my House}

I saw this post over at Southern Confort in a Nothern Life a while ago and was inspired to write about it. Especially since today, June 30th, was exactly a year ago when I signed the paperwork and became a homeowner.
I stared looking around March 2009 and I looked at a LOT of houses. And I mean, a LOT. I wanted something not too old, and that would require little maintenance. I knew a house built within the last 15-20 years was right up my alley. I found several houses I liked and suffered heartbreak when the contracts contiunally fell through.
I wanted to stay relatively close to my parent's, just in case I need anything or have a little emergency. I found this house in a brand new neighborhood 5 miles from my parents.

I was able to sign the contract in the middle of construction so I got to pick out the cabinets, carpet, tile, etc. I went with walnut cabinets. I've always been a fan of darker wood. This is the dining area and kitchen.

My living room is huge. I love it. lots of free space to move around and do my aerobics and whatnot. I searched high and low for the perfect furniture to go in the house. I didn't have furniture for a month becuase I didn't want to make a hasty purchase and end up with something I didn't love.

Where has the month gone?

Unfortunately, the month caught up to me! Work work work! Busy busy busy!

I'm now a night walker at work. Oklahoma summers are brutal and I made the switch from days to nights. It sure is different. The nature of the calls is just night and day difference (no pun intended). I went from running a few chest pains, sick calls, etc. to lots of trauma, overdoses, wrecks, and some of the craziest cardiac calls. It's been busy, but really great.

I'd love to write more, but I'm getting ready for a garage sale this weekend and I need to clean out some stuff and get it priced and ready to go.
